    I'm Dhanya Francis

    Budding artist and Engineer

  • I am
    an Engineer

Trying to make a positive impact on society

Who Am I?

Hi I'm Dhanya Francis

I was inspired by robotics from various movies and TV shows while I was a kid. I was astonished by the film 'Short Circuit' and wanted to be a robotics engineer from that day onwards. I want to give some positive contribution to society by designing and building something new using technology. It feels really wonderful when you know that you are actually providing something positive to society. I chose to be an engineer because I believe I can find solutions to the problems faced by society using technology. I would like to gain some practical experience from the industry after graduation applying what I have studied till now. I would like to pursue a master’s in electrical and Computer science majoring in robotics and A.I. My dream is to start a new company within 10 years which provides low-cost technology solutions, especially to differently abled people.

I am passionate about being an Engineer and love to inspire others to be part of the engineering world.

Experience

Professional Experience

System Engineer (Asst) 2017-2018

I was part of IoT project at Tata Consultancy Services Ltd from March 2017 to July 2018.

I worked as developer and tester in collaboration with the team that provided front end IoT solutions for a smart city project.I achieved Band A in the project for the financial year 0f 2017 - 2018

As part of my training, I created MATLAB and Simulink based solution proposals for the automotive industry

I am also trained on IBM Watson cloud platform and engaged in technologies like Speech-to-text conversion.

Product Analyst 2020 - Present

I work as Product Analyst at BSC Global ensuring quality of consumer electronics and updating asset and inventory records for the units using MS Access. I have integrated MS Access data into Power BI for visual reports of targets which increased the profit by 25% for last quarter.

Teaching Assistant Summer 2019

I worked as teaching staff at Digital Media Academy at University of Toronto. I assisted with daily instructional and classroom responsibilities as well as lead recreation activities during non-class time. I was able to help students in creating 3D models using TINKERCAD and 3D print using Ultimaker 2+. I inspired girls with Made by Girls program in Wearable technologies using Lilypad. I engaged in teaching python with Pi-Top using raspberry pi and helped making various projects like personalized Alexa and electronic music using theremin. I was able to enable students to create autonomous robotic vehicle using Arduino

Peer Tutor Jan 2019 - Dec 2019

I am peer tutor at Centennial College who helps students in their studies.I engaged in teaching electronic concepts with students with adequate examples and study techniques. I also assisted Professors in electronics laboratories to guide students and in the maintenance of equipment.
